Rising from the ashes: The spectacular return of Aliwan Fiesta this 2023
The time has come! After three years of being in hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Aliwan Fiesta, once again, is set to gather the best of the best cultural street dances, floats, and Reynas from all over the Philippines.
Last May 18, Manila Broadcasting Company invited several media practitioners for a press conference, unfolding the brand new logo of Aliwan Fiesta to the public.
Aside from this trademark, MBC President Ruperto S. Nicdao also pointed out three major changes during this year’s festival.
Date of Aliwan Fiesta Far apart from the customary Aliwan Fiesta schedule, this year’s grand festival will take place on July 13, 14, and 15. Since the academic school year ends in July, the committee came to a decision to adapt to the academic calendar in consideration of the participating students. In addition to that, educational institutions within the vicinity of CCP will be utilized as the contingents’ venue for rehearsals for the time being.
Parade route This year’s parade route will also be re-calibrated on account of the road construction along Roxas Boulevard. Contingents, Reynas, and the floats will have their assembly at the Star City Parking lot. The parade will commence along the street of Jalandoni and will make a right turn at Bukaneg Street, heading to Harbour Square where their first performance will take place. A platform will be situated in front of CCP for the street dancer, float, and Reyna’s photo opportunity. Afterward, the parade will take a turn to Vicente Sotto Street, heading to the main stage in front of Aliw Theater for their full and final performance.
Prizes at stake One of the highlights of Aliwan Fiesta’s grand comeback are the prizes at stake for the crowned Reyna ng Aliwan as well as the grand winners for the street dance and float competition.
Grand prize for street dance competition – from 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 Grand prize for float competition – from 500,000 to 750,000 Grand prize for Reyna ng Aliwan – 100,000 to 150,000
