The Aliwan Fiesta 2024 Photography Competition showcased the best of Filipino creativity and cultural heritage through the lenses of talented photographers from across the country.

On September 20, 2024, the much-anticipated awarding ceremony will take place, highlighting the extraordinary work of photographers who captured the essence of Aliwan Fiesta, a festival that celebrates the rich and diverse traditions of the Philippines.

The Panel of Judges

The competition was judged by a distinguished panel of experts, each bringing their own unique perspective and vast experience in photography:

Mr. George Tapan: A veteran and multi-awarded Filipino travel photographer, Tapan is a two-time Pacific Asia Tourism Association Gold Awardee and an ASEAN Tourism Association Awardee. His work is renowned for its ability to capture the beauty and diversity of the Philippines.

Mr. Jophel Ybiosa: A multi-awarded Filipino photographer, Ybiosa is a nine-time NCCA Ani ng Dangal Awardee for Visual Arts. He is also the founder and executive director of Team Juan Makasining, an organization dedicated to promoting Filipino arts and culture.

Mr. Jimmy Domingo: A senior photojournalist and lecturer at the UP College of Mass Communication, Domingo is the chairperson of the Photojournalists' Center of the Philippines, Inc. His experience in photojournalism provides a sharp eye for storytelling through images.

Winners of the Aliwan Fiesta 2024 Photography Competition

• First Place: ALIWAN PORTAL by Carlo G. Zamora

Prize: PhP 50,000.00

Zamora's photograph, titled "Aliwan Portal," stood out for its stunning composition and ability to transport viewers into the heart of the festival. The image encapsulated the vibrancy, movement, and cultural significance of the event, making it a deserving winner of the top prize.

• Second Place: HALA BIRA by Christopher John M. Llerin

Prize: PhP 25,000.00
