Streetdance & Float Competitions at Aliwan Fiesta 2023
Acknowledged as the country’s grandest festival, Aliwan Fiesta will make its highly-awaited comeback on July 13-15, 2023 after a four year hiatus imposed by pandemic restrictions. With its last edition seen in 2019, Aliwan Fiesta will again gather outstanding talents from the country’s 16 regions in a cultural tourism showcase that highlights the Filipinos’ penchant for grandiose and colorful merrymaking.
Amid the cornucopia of sounds and sights that have marked Aliwan Fiesta through the years, we are again focusing very strongly on presentations that best incorporate indigenous culture and folkloric traditions. We therefore urge participants to use authentic cultural elements specific to their localities in conceptualizing their festival entries. Their movements in the streetdance competition must be enhanced by live music and fully showcase local color of their respective communities. Only two entries per province are allowed.
Supporting the festival dance showdown is a float design competition, in which entries should creatively project the economic perspective of the town or province represented.
The grand parade on July 15 will be around the CCP Complex, due to ongoing road repairs along Roxas Boulevard. It will kick off at 5 p.m. on Jalandoni Street beside Star City, turning right on Bukaneg Street where the first judging area will be at Harbor Square. It will then make its way to the CCP fountain area, finally winding up in front of the Aliw Theater for the final showdown.
LGUs may also field entries to the search for Festival Queen (Reyna ng Aliwan) and may be allotted booths in the regional bazaar, anchored on the one town-one product campaign of DTI.
The champion contingent in the streetdance competition will receive P1.5 million, with the winner for the float competition bringing home P750,000, and the Reyna ng Aliwan P150,000. Updates may be viewed on the official Facebook page of Aliwan Fiesta or the website at aliwanfiesta.com Deadline for registration is on June 16.
